Commercial Contrast

The use of contrast in a radio commercial will draw attention, make it interesting, create the unexpected and keep listeners from falling asleep. Too often commercials are all one flavor – a sea of audio beige. Try juxtaposing silence and noise or two widely differing music cuts to tell the story of two aspects of a product or service.

Use differing sound effects to switch the scene from one locale to another.

Hmmm...Massage!

As we work with stations around the country we see more and more alternative therapy businesses springing up everywhere - massage, reflexology, acupuncture, reiki etc. It seems that more and more people are turning to such treatments in your market. Now is the time to get these relatively new businesses into some consistent radio advertising - so they associate you with their growth now and in the future.

What Will You Choose?

If I was informed the life or death of a complete stranger was entirely dependent on decisions made by me, what would I do? How would I act?

What would I decide?

If being courageous was the only way to achieve genuine success, would I choose to be brave?

If my confession helped someone yet was likely to destroy me, would I be selfless or cowardly?

Cumulus Lost Millions on Rush Boycott

It's the first time anyone actually gave a dollar amount regarding the Rush Limbaugh Sandra Fluke incident. Cumulus Revenue Drops 3.5%

Cumulus reported a 3.5% drop in revenue compared to the same quarter a year ago. Cumulus CEO Lew Dickey attributed the decline to lost revenue from the Rush controversy, L.A. Dodgers comps from a year ago (Cumulus dropped Dodger broadcasts from KABC) and a drop-off in advertising in March. The Cumulus decline follows a relatively flat report from Clear Channel. Radio One has reported the best quarter so far, up 6.4%. Ed Christian's Saga checks in on Tuesday.

The Battle For The Dash Coming to Convergence

With real estate limited and demand extremely high, the only question that remains is who will win. Gone are the days when AM/FM radio owned the dashboard in every automobile that rolled off the assembly line. We now live in an age where automotive manufacturers are creating entertainment systems - or infotainment systems - where consumers want to be able to safely use every app on the smartphone without ever having to take their hands off the wheel.

FCC Back to Full Strength

The Senate confirmed Jessica Rosenworcel, a former Senate Commerce Committee senior communications counsel, to fill a Democratic seat on the FCC and Ajit Pai, a former FCC aide, to fill a Republican seat.

Pamal Sells 2 FM's in Pensacola to Cumulus for $6.5 Million

The calls are WMEZ-FM (Soft rock) and WXBM-FM (Country) and the final two stations Pamal had in Florida. The company is based out of Albany, New York. Cumulus CEO Lew Dickey made the announcement during the company earnings call Monday afternoon. Cumulus already had somewhat of a presence in both Mobile and Pensacola and this purchase helps them round out there clusters there.
